Educational Disclaimer

3.1 General Educational Information

All information supplied by Orchid Bloom Lab™, including website articles, emails, books, guides, bench guides, workbooks, checklists, schedules, illustrations, videos and downloadable files, is provided for general educational and informational purposes.

The information is intended primarily for hobbyist orchid growers.

It is not a substitute for an on-site assessment or advice from a qualified horticulturist, plant pathologist, entomologist, agronomist, pesticide professional or other appropriate specialist.

3.2 No Individual Diagnosis

Plant symptoms can have several possible causes. Similar symptoms may result from:

  • watering problems;
  • root damage;
  • excessive or inadequate light;
  • temperature stress;
  • nutrient imbalance;
  • pests;
  • fungal, bacterial or viral disease;
  • chemical injury;
  • ageing;
  • mechanical damage; or
  • multiple interacting factors.

Photographs and written descriptions may not provide enough information for a reliable diagnosis.

Any diagnostic framework supplied by Orchid Bloom Lab™ is an educational decision aid and not a guaranteed identification of a pest, disease or growing problem.

3.3 Variation in Growing Conditions

Orchid responses vary according to:

  • species, hybrid and cultivar;
  • plant age and health;
  • climate and season;
  • indoor, outdoor or greenhouse conditions;
  • pot and growing medium;
  • light intensity and duration;
  • temperature and humidity;
  • air movement;
  • water quality;
  • fertiliser formulation;
  • pest and disease pressure; and
  • the grower’s application of the information.

No particular growth, flowering or recovery result is guaranteed.

3.4 Chemical and Pesticide Safety

Any reference to a pesticide, fungicide, disinfectant, fertilizer, chemical, biological control or treatment method is general information only.

Before using any product, you must:

  • read and follow the current product label;
  • confirm that the product is legally approved for the intended use in your location;
  • follow all dilution, application, storage and disposal instructions;
  • use appropriate protective equipment;
  • protect children, pets, wildlife and food-growing areas;
  • avoid mixing products unless expressly permitted; and
  • obtain qualified local advice where necessary.

The legally approved product label and applicable local law take priority over any general statement in our materials.

A product registered or commonly used in one country may be restricted or unavailable in another.

3.5 Biosecurity and Plant Disposal

Certain pests and diseases may be subject to quarantine, reporting or movement restrictions.

Do not transport, sell, exchange or discard a potentially infected plant without considering local biosecurity requirements. Consult your local agricultural, quarantine or plant-health authority where a regulated pest or disease may be involved.

3.6 Scientific Information

We aim to use credible scientific and horticultural sources. However:

  • scientific understanding changes;
  • recommendations may differ between authorities;
  • research findings may apply only under particular conditions;
  • product registrations and labels may change; and
  • errors or omissions may occur.

Publication of information does not guarantee that it will remain current indefinitely.

3.7 Assumption of Responsibility

You are responsible for evaluating whether information is appropriate for your plant, circumstances and location.

You assume responsibility for decisions and actions taken using our educational materials, including:

  • changing growing conditions;
  • cutting roots or plant tissue;
  • repotting;
  • applying fertilisers;
  • applying pest or disease treatments;
  • isolating or disposing of plants; and
  • purchasing equipment or products.

Where uncertain, seek assistance from a qualified local professional before taking irreversible action.

3.8 No Professional Relationship

Accessing our website, purchasing a product, subscribing to our emails or sending us a question does not create:

  • a consultant-client relationship;
  • a professional diagnostic relationship;
  • a fiduciary relationship; or
  • an obligation to provide individual advice.

Any response we provide remains general educational information unless a separate written professional-services agreement states otherwise.

3.9 Limitation

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Alfred & Jen LLP and Orchid Bloom Lab™ are not responsible for plant loss, reduced flowering, crop loss, property damage, chemical injury or other loss resulting from reliance on general educational information.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.
